FDI in the United States, Quarter One 2019

Foreign direct investment in the United States totaled $79.5 billion in the first-quarter of 2019, following a slightly stronger investment of $84 billion in the previous quarter of 2018. Foreign Direct Investment flows in first-quarter 2019 were about average for the past three years. Net equality flows made up $49 billion in the first-quarter 2019 inward investment. 

Foreign direct investment in the United States in 2018 was down eight percent from 2017 and down 44 percent from the record-breaking level attained in 2016.
