WASHINGTON – The Global Business Alliance (formerly known as OFII) today announced plans to host a series of five highly-informative virtual events to share real-world perspectives on how policymakers can jumpstart American job growth.
“As millions of Americans think about emerging from this pandemic-induced hibernation, the economic landscape around them is dramatically different,” says Nancy McLernon, president and CEO of the Global Business Alliance. “This series will provide a look into how a variety of industries have dealt with the crisis, their outlook over the next year and practical perspectives on how policymakers can help jumpstart American job growth.”
These virtual events, which will air each Monday at 11:00 a.m. ET starting July 13, will explore key facets of the U.S. economy. They are free to attend and open to the public, streaming on JumpstartJobs.org.

Jumpstarting job creation in the United States can’t begin in earnest until the health crisis is under control. This scene-setter for the series will open with a penetrating look into the race to develop vaccines and treatments for COVID-19. We will explore the science, the collaboration (both within the United States and across borders), and top policy recommendations to secure our health and safety.

Despite American real manufacturing output reaching an all-time high last year, there is a growing sense that we have lost our manufacturing base. This session will explore the impact the pandemic has had on this critical sector, as well as the policy priorities that will jumpstart manufacturing job growth – centered around a discussion of workforce re-skilling and U.S. and global supply chains.
