WASHINGTON – The Organization for International Investment (OFII) today announced Aaron S. Brickman as its senior vice president for strategy and development. Prior to joining OFII, Brickman served as the deputy executive director of SelectUSA, an agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce charged with encouraging foreign direct investment in the United States.
“Aaron’s expertise on facilitating foreign direct investment in the United States is unparalleled,” said Nancy McLernon, president and CEO of OFII. “He has advised thousands of foreign-based companies on strategies to succeed in the U.S. market and counseled hundreds of U.S. economic development organizations on ways to attract global investment. Aaron’s deep knowledge of best practices in these areas will provide a high level of practical support to OFII’s member companies that insource billions of dollars of investment and millions of jobs to the United States.”
As senior vice president for strategy and development, Brickman will lead efforts to forge new relationships with global companies, the embassy community and strategic partners around the world.
“OFII is the gold standard when it comes to supporting insourcing employers and advocating for fair, non-discriminatory treatment of foreign-based companies,” said Brickman. “I am honored to be joining the only business association in Washington focused exclusively on supporting the inbound business community. Insourcing companies play an essential role in America’s economy, and I am excited to help OFII expand its capabilities and grow its ranks.”
Mr. Brickman joined the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2002 and became the founding deputy executive director of SelectUSA in 2011. During that tenure, Brickman helped secure the agency’s first-ever congressional budget appropriation, led strategy and operations of the global program reporting to Commerce leadership and White House officials, and acted as ombudsman for companies encountering federal policy or regulatory problems. His work has taken him to more than 60 countries.
Prior to joining the U.S. Commerce Department, Brickman worked in international economic consulting and strategy. Mr. Brickman holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from American University. He has also studied economic growth at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and e-commerce at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He lives in Maryland with his wife and family.
