Of the top 20 countries with companies invested in the United States, one Asia-Pacific nation has increased its U.S. growth by more than 400 percent in the past five years.
If you guessed China or Korea, you’re wrong. It’s Singapore!

Singaporean companies have invested more in the United States than those from Italy and Brazil combined. In the past five years, they have grown their investment by more than fivefold, rising from $17 billion in 2012 to nearly $89 billion in 2017. This surge in foreign direct investment (FDI) places Singapore as the ninth largest investor in the U.S. economy.
It’s important to note that even with such substantial growth, Singaporean investment accounts for only two percent of total foreign direct investment in the United States.
Brazil, Belgium and Canada were also some of the fastest-growing investing countries in the United States. Each country more than doubled their investment over the past five years.
