Many companies have offered incentives to employees to receive COVID-19 vaccinations, including paid leave for employee vaccination days, on-site vaccination opportunities and internal resources directing employees where to go to get vaccinated. Below are a few highlights of GBA members’ programs:
Daimler
Daimler business units in the U.S., which include Mercedes-Benz USA, Mercedes-Benz USI, Daimler Trucks North America, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, are strongly encouraging employees to get vaccinated via robust employee communication campaigns. That includes assisting with scheduling vaccination appointments, arranging for vaccinations to be given on-site, as well as dedicated off-site times, liberal leave accommodations, and, in some instances, providing such incentives as gift bags and raffle entries for vaccinated employees. Posted information also includes access to the latest vaccine news and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, as well as state and local health agencies.
DHL
DHL is working hard to encourage as many of its workforce as possible to receive the vaccine through extensive awareness and information campaigns, helping all employees to make an informed choice and access the vaccine at the earliest possible opportunity. In addition, the DHL Supply Chain contract logistics division has provided technology, expertise and resources to directly assist in the distribution of the Pfizer vaccine in the U.S. We are proud of the role we have played to date in addressing this global challenge and will continue to explore opportunities to protect our people, our customers, and our communities to emerge from the pandemic at full strength.
Honda
Honda is holding onsite vaccine clinics throughout its U.S. operations to make COVID-19 vaccines as accessible as possible for its associates through early June. All clinics are administered by licensed healthcare providers, and many are open to eligible family members in addition to Honda associates. Honda is also providing incentives through its company wellness program to associates who are vaccinated, have reviewed educational materials, and are taking additional steps to stop the spread of COVID-19.
ITOCHU
ITOCHU International’s HQ office in NY announced that it would offer a paid day off in order for employees to get vaccinated and the following paid day off as well for recovery purposes. These are being offered as “bonus” days, not requiring employees to tap into their vacation or sick day banks.
Lehigh Hanson
Lehigh Hanson is encouraging employees to get vaccinated for COVID-19 by offering eight hours of paid time off in exchange for confirmed vaccination.
Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors is encouraging its employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 through internal communications, e.g. emails on the importance of the vaccine, as well as links to sites to find their nearest vaccination location. They are also providing an incentive through their wellness program to get the COVID-19 vaccination, where employees can earn points towards the reduction of employee health insurance contributions in the next plan year.
Nissan
Nissan is providing public resources to employees to explain scientifically the benefits of the vaccine and organizing on-site vaccination days.
